During epic winter surf, the fine sand at this beach leaves overnight, like the gal in the country song. The sand, scrubbed white and clean, gradually returns - hence this park is also known as Magic Sands or Disappearing Sands. During low surf, the best snorkeling is at a rocky inlet south of the park.
